TimeShift for the XBox360 and PC will be the game to rewrite the standards for the first person shooter. Colonel Swift, a retired test pilot who is given the opportunity to test out a time travel device, goes back in time and when he returns to the future he finds that it is not the future he left. Everything has changed, and not for the better. Now hunted by the state, armed with the Quantum Suit and a Chronomicon, he must find the answers that will allow him to bring back the future that should be.This game is a wild ride that never stops. In most FPS games you get a guy with a gun and spend your time destroying everything in front of you until the environment gets you. In TimeShift you get a chance to rewind those events that may potentially kill you and give it another try. You have the ability to slow down, stop and even reverse time. This gives you an amazing tactical advantage over your foes. Now you can step out of the way of bullets as they hang motionless in mid air and move around the person shooting at you to attack him from behind. Your target doesn’t even realize until to late that you’ve moved. It's quite fun to watch the guy that was shooting at you continue to fire at where you were while you tag him from the side.
Timeshift boasts a wide range of weaponry for your use, as well as the ability to operate certain vehicles and vehicle mounted weaponry. Over 30 missions in varying environments giving you about 20 hours of game play and a storyline that will keep you hooked as you try to fix the future, bringing back the world you knew.
The graphics in the game are amazing and truly put the XBox 360 through its paces.
The game has a multi player aspect to it that was not commented on much at E3 other than to say that it works and works really well, especially since everyone in the game can timeshift. I can’t wait to get the chance to see how that is going to work out.
The gameplay is smooth and easy to pick up on, though using the timeshifting ability to its full advantage will take some practice.
One point that had not occurred to me previous to my conversation with the guys at the Timeshift booth is that the XBox 360 controller works on the PC and that for the PC version it's definitely the way to go to get the full advantage while playing the game. I’ll have to give that a try.
You’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for this one and dive into it when it’s released.
