If you like arcade style games, find Tetris addictive, and Space Invaders fun then Tumble Bugs is definitely worth trying. In the game you play the roll of a superhero beetle. Your duty is to stop the progression of slave beetles before they get to a hole where evil lurks that sucks them into the evil lord's oblivion, or at least that is what the storyline says. The free version online is a lot of fun. I sat there for a couple hours just tossing the bright colorful smiling little bugs into the procession. It has become a stress reliever on a hard days when the kids screaming and fighting, and being a sane mother is hard. The little noises, the clinks and chings, the music for success and failure. It cheers me up some, and makes the rest of the day a lot easier to get through. I always find it funny though it is almost embarrassing to admit that games help me like that. This is one of those games that while to some all the happy cheery little bugs may be irritating, and easy to throw at one another, by the end of a few levels you find that the little guys have cheered you up.
What you are actually doing is trying to line up at least 3 or more bugs of the same color. You do this by tossing your little bugs into the line. You have to learn to aim some to do this. I am not the best at this. But once I got the hang of it I did alright. There are also little bugs in the line that if you get the 3 in a row with they cause some action to happen to the entire procession. The actions I triggered were reverse the procession, fast forward the procession, stop the procession, sling shot your bugs into specific positions and a little bug that basically obliterates half of the remaining pieces for me, nicknamed Superbug. I like Superbug, he comes in and makes my game easier to finish. Now why can’t I have him come in and do that with my housework?
I started finding that there was a need to use strategy the higher in level you got. You need to figure out what order you want to get rid of the bugs in, and how best to get it to stop heading for the hole. At first there is a lot of leeway, but with the passing of scenes you realize you need to make choices on how to go about getting rid of the bugs. The march gets more and more intense as they get closer and closer. If something comes up you can just minimize your browser to pause it and resume as soon as you maximize it again. This is handy for those at a workplace.
When I started playing it was a lot of fun. As time passes and I got farther and farther into the game, and the bugs got closer and closer to that hole... I started saying to myself “Save the bug, save the bugs!. Oh no, it is passing the pumpkin vines on the little path, pressure builds, right click to swap which color I have equipped... Oh no, messed up on that shot, the curve and movement got me. Why can’t I shoot like my husband? Grrr.” Closer closer... you feel the sweat starting to build up.
Then my baby daughter pounces on my lap and dinglingling they all fall in the hole. At this point in time I notice I get two more chances and laugh at how frustrated I got. Tumble Bugs is a stress reliever in a world full of stress. It is a game that I think everyone should give a try on a day where you need some stress relief, or just want to have some fun with an arcade game that has it’s own twist.
