The Austin chapter of IGDA took over the Beerland Club for the ultimate test of manual dexterity with a Beta copy of Guitar Hero 2 as the battleground! The game, secured by Warren Spector from Junction Point, was set up so that players stood on-stage with a projector displaying the game on the wall behind them. This means that for one night, the gamers were the rock stars.
The tournament was ruthless, pitting the best players the Austin Game Conference had to offer against one another with the amazing prize of a $50 Best Buy gift card awaiting the victor. Standing in front of a packed crowd is definitely the way that this game was meant to be played, cheers erupted when a player nailed a particularly intricate run, and jeering and laughter struck when a held note was missed.
