Welcome to Bomberman for the Sony PSP, get your fuses ready. Bomberman is needed to save the universe from the nasty aliens who have overshadowed a number of worlds. Bomberman for the PSP brings you the same explosive fun you have come to expect from other Bomberman games.

You will begin your excursion on Bomberworld and once you have freed it you will then get to move on to other worlds; Jungle World, Spook World, Lava World, Electro World, Ice World and Desert World. Each will have its own challenges for you to overcome.

For those of you not familiar with the Bomberman games, you run around the maze seeking the exit by destroying boxes and avoiding being snagged by the wandering aliens. While you are seeking the exit you will also uncover special bonus abilities like increasing your bomb's flame range, or being able to drop more than one bomb at a time, or even become invulnerable to fire for a time.

In addition to the “story” mode where you are working to free the worlds, there is also a “battle” mode. In the battle mode you can either play against other people with PSP’s, or, if you don’t know anyone with a PSP then you can play against the computer. You can set the system up to play against 1 to 3 computer controlled “players”. In the battle mode when you pick up the bonus abilities they go into effect immediately.

The PSP version of Bomberman is 3D as opposed to the 2D flat maps of old. This gives the game a slightly different perspective and as such makes it a bit more challenging. Though once you get used to the 3D layout your number of repetitive deaths should drop a bit. Or perhaps its just because I suck at the game that my poor bombermen die so often.

As with most puzzle style games, Bomberman is well suited for the Sony PSP. Its easy to play, though challenging to win, and good for all ages.

I've been gaming since the days of the original TSR D&D and have grown up playing just about every PnP RPG created. Eventually with the age of computers, I started getting into RTS and military strategy games. And then came the MMORPG Asherons Call which changed my computer gaming forever. These days when i'm not gaming I'm working with the Los Padre's Council BSA and my son's Cub Pack - when not conquering the virtual world.
