Genre: simulation
Setting: modern
The Sims 2: Pets for the Nintendo Wii allows you to build your own township and play with your pets. Similar to the PC game, it’s an open ended game where you can play a family that already exists, or start from scratch and create your own character and pet. You can also build your house from the ground up, and by looking at the map, depending on where you build your house, it could come with a nice view.

There is a lot of customization that comes with creating your pet. There are more than 22 dog breeds to choose from as well as over 15 cat breeds. Besides manipulating their looks, there is a wide variety of accessories for your pet. The intelligence of your pet can also be customized, which would affect the rate that they learn new tricks.

By using the nunchuck and the Wii remote, it makes the process of selecting items much easier. Similar to a mouse, you can point and click to pick up and drag things around. The controls are definitely an advantage when it comes to the Wii, which offsets the graphics. Even though the graphics may not be up to par with the PC counterpart, there is plenty of detail in the environment and characters to make it aesthetically pleasing.

As your town slowly begins to grow, new items can be unlocked. You will have the ability to go to the pet store and purchase another pet, or bring your pets to the park and let them play with the other animals. The Sims 2: Pets is scheduled for a June 13 release.

About the Author, Sophia (A.K.A Soapy)

I am a Canadian living in California with my husband and my precious baby Bailey (95lbs of labrador fun). I work full time and go to school, so finding the time to play video games is tough. I still manage to sneak some time in, whether it's playing on my GBA while I wait in line or sitting in the back seat of my car so I can use our dvd player to play the Gamecube on long trips. I've always been fairly decent at playing games to give my younger brother some competition. I started at the early age of 6 when I inherited an Atari 2600. I played any computer game I could get my hands on during those Commodore 64 days. Now I'll play anything from RPGs to first person shooters, racing games or basically anything that's fun and allows me to play with at least 3 other people.
