I've only one word for this game... Addictive! Way too addictive! I need help addictive! If that isn't enough to scare you away from this absorbing puzzle game, then be forewarned, you'll wonder where the time went after you've begun playing this enchanting game.
If you're a fan of puzzle games and are looking for something new to try out, then hook your virtual fingers on what I consider a fun, visual pleasing, yet brain stimulating puzzle. Developed by IWin.com and carried by Gamehouse.com you can try it out either by trial download, online with registration, or purchasing the full version. I tried the trial download which gives you one hour to play before it locks up. I can't say for the online version, but would think you can play only so many levels. If you want to go further you would need to buy the full version.
First thing you notice is the decent clean display of the game. As you can see from the start screen you're looking at an Indiana Jones type quest. Playing is simple, just needing to match three or more like objects to turn the squares gold. Turn the entire puzzle gold, progresses you to next level. Options and rules are easy to understand. You start by creating your player name and away you go, which turns out to be an adventure story line as you play each succeeding level.
This is where the faux Indiana Jones style quest shows up while you're playing, which I think is terrific! A lot of puzzle games are just that, puzzle games. There is no relief from playing one level to the next, except for different levels you complete. The quest's storyline between levels give you a visual break, as it provides an interesting read. It makes you wonder what the next page will have to say while you're immersed in the actual game play.
The first set of levels brings up in game boxes that tell you what you've done and what to expect, making it a simple tutorial while you're actually playing. Each puzzle you start off with does have a timer which when completed gives you a bonus added to the final score. When converting a set of boxes to gold, you'll receive a decent set of points added to the current score, but matches over gold boxes award a different set of points which encourages completion of the level as fast as possible. High scores for the current level are saved, which can make for lively competition between friends or family members. Finishing a full set gives you an additional life as well, but be forewarned that if you end your game then restart later you will lose one life. So be sure you have extra lives to spare when quitting for the night.
As you complete a level, the statue on the left starts to change color, which shows your progress in a pleasing manner. This adds a simple but refreshing break in the screen display so you won't be bored with the same constant background. As you complete full sets, the next set will give you a new statue plus the story line. After which you're given a much harder puzzle set to complete in the time allotted. As you go up levels you'll be given blockers which you must match with the correct symbols to remove successfully. Believe me when I say that the levels aren't a push over and sometimes you'll come down to the wire as you try to complete the puzzle.
Game play on each level is never the same since each starts out with the symbols randomized, so that replaying level one will be just as entertaining as replaying level ten. However you look at it, the value is always there, whether you play for fifteen minutes or five hours. If you're bored with the current flavor of the month game and want to be simply entertained for a couple of hours, then you can't go wrong with this fun game.
My knowledge of the industry mostly evolves around beta testing games, such as Earth & Beyond from EA, Saga of Ryzom, and companies like MSN and Acolade. Self taught web design is another interest I have. Family life is entertaining at times. It also can get weird as well, after you have been married 31 years.
