Populus, originally a game for the PC, is coming back this fall for the Nintendo DS. This time, instead of just following one god, you'll have the option to choose which of five gods you'll represent for each mission.
Each of the five gods has a different aspect. They can be fire, wood, water, etc. You'll want to pick out your god based off your opponent to have the best chance of using your miracles to take down the demon you're competing against.
The basics of the game remains the same. You want to change the land, flatten it out, to make it more easily cultivated by your followers. While doing so, you use miracles, such as earthquakes, to devastate the lands of your enemy's followers. You pick what you're trying to do on the bottom screen and watch it happen on the top screen.
The game takes place in real time and across fifty single player missions. As I mentioned before, you can change gods between missions and missions all take place in different styles of lands. One of the favorites is the "8 bit plain" where game consoles evolve and grow up.
There's also a minigame of "Warrior Hunt" which is basically "Where's Waldo?" with the villagers of the game. As you go through the minigame it's harder and harder to pick out the warrior. For instance, you might be looking for 10 out of 50 people on the screen who are walking slower than others.
Multiplayer mode is also supported by the game. Each player needs a copy of the game but up to four players can play together.
