If you read my previous review of Blinx The Time Sweeper you’ll know that I loved that game. I feel just the same about Blinx 2: Masters of Time and Space. In fact, you could say I love it even more! The sequel to the E3 2003 Game of the Year may be even better then the original. With more time control, more enemies, and the ability to create your own Time Sweeper, and getting to play as the enemy, this game is worth the “time” you put into it.

The story is as follows. A time crystal has split into many different pieces and you, as a Time Sweeper, must go out and find every piece…that is, unless you are playing as the enemy. You then are a Pig, trying to steal things -- including the pieces of the time crystal.

Gameplay is pretty much the same as the original. You still go through every level with your time sweeper, a vacuum like weapon, sucking up time monsters and using your time control powers. But instead of playing as Blinx, the hero of the original game, you create your own Time Sweeping cat. You choose your looks, clothes, body size, name, colors, everything. You also create your own team of Sweepers, to go along with your player, though you only really play as one of them during the game. You can choose your teams name, symbol, and colors as well.

The one downside to the game is that you have to play as the enemy as well. Yes, the Pigs. You once again, create your own, and go through levels. The difference in gameplay is that you usually infiltrate a Time Sweeper base and steal things with your slingshot and other weapons, trying not to be caught by the guard. This variation, while a good effort to offer something new to the series, doesn’t really add to the overall game. In this aspect, I enjoyed the original more where you only played as Time Sweeper.

This gameplay design is still very unique. You get to control time in many different ways; from recording to speeding up time to stopping time completely, the gameplay is very addictive. You may find yourself playing this one for a while.

Graphically, this game isn’t very different than the first offering. The look is very familiar and there are only a few graphical updates and improvements. Don’t get me wrong, though, the graphics are still pretty good.

The music, like that in the original game, is very annoying. I don’t know what it is, but it just annoys the hell out of me. Just seems so immature, but then again, it does seem to go with the mood of the game.

I enjoy the boss fights in this game even more than the ones in the first. The Bosses in the first were rather silly -- big, goofy looking things with numbers all over them. In this game, they seem a little more taunting and more of a challenge. You sometimes even need to use your Time Control to beat them. For example, there is one big large Tree like boss. You can’t just attack normally, you have to use your REWIND power to reduce him back to a bunch of little seeds, from were he began, to beat him. It’s pretty cool.

The game is actually rather easy, when playing as a Time Sweeper. Maybe it’s because I was used to the similar gameplay from the original, but playing as the Pigs is actually quite hard. It’s so easy to be caught, and then almost impossible to get away. Their weapon is pretty much useless, or I found it was. But once again, I am not a fan of playing as the Pigs, so I really have nothing positive to say about them.

This game is definitely something I would consider replaying after I have beaten it and I wouldn’t mind seeing a Blinx 3 released either. I loved this game, but I find it hard to say a lot about it. This game is very good, and I definitely suggest you rent or purchase it. Its fun, time consuming and even has an interesting multiplayer mode thrown in there (which I unfortunately did not have a chance to try out.)

I am currently a 22 year old college student at Salem State College in Salem, Mass. I hope to graduate with a degree in history and go on to become a high school teacher. I have the best friends ever (better than yours) and would hate to live without them. I work at Stop & Shop ... and I hate it.

I like videogames FAR too much. I play them too much, spend too much money on them ... and I LOVE IT! There is no single videogame type that I don't like, and I am willing to play anything. Games are a big part of my life (and my wallet). Metal Gear Solid is by far my favorite videogame of all time, and to this day, I don't feel as if any other game can top the story, character design or atmosphere that any of the Metal Gear Solid games show us.
