The day Falcon Heene (the boy who supposedly flew off in the homemade balloon) hid in the attic, I was at Big Daddy’s Diner with my face buried in a build for the upcoming release of Wedding Dash on the Nintendo DS. Weddings, much like useless national rescue missions, are hectic. Months of work go into creating the perfect day. Sometimes things go perfectly; mostly, they do not. Zoo Games attempts to capture the ugly side of matrimony in Wedding Dash for the Nintendo DS.

You take the role of Quinn, a wedding planner who is just beginning her business. Quinn must execute each special day to keep her business running and brides glowing. Don’t worry, there are no vows to snore through; the action takes place at the reception, where guests are waiting for you to make them happy. Image0022

Anyone experienced in playing Diner Dash will recognize the format immediately. Guests wait in a line for you to seat them. Once seated, you must bring their gift to the head table. There is no ordering here — before the level begins, you select a meal plan and décor that agrees with the couples’ requests.

You must serve the appetizer, followed by the main course and finally dessert. When guests are finished, they go to dance like fools at the DJ booth, and you continue this cycle of gifting and feeding until all guests are finished. There are, of course, guest demands ... er ... requests that earn you extra points.

The requests are different at each wedding, but be prepared to do a lot of creative seating. Issues like fighting bridesmaids raise or lower the bride’s emotion level. If things are going well, she will sit and canoodle with her new husband. Rumor has it that if things get lousy, the bride turns into a lizard. I didn’t get a chance to upset her, but I would love to see if the rumors are true. Image0011

Though I was playing on a build, the game worked just fine. The graphics are the typical 2-D cartoons found in many of Zoo’s casual games. Gameplay is possibly addicting, but I need more time with Wedding Dash to know for sure. It was easy to pick up and play without a lengthy tutorial, and anyone who has ever been in or planned a wedding will definitely find the guests and mini-events amusing.

Wedding Dash for the Nintendo DS is scheduled for release Nov. 9, and I can’t wait to see what the full experience has to offer.
