The Thrustmaster: Tennis Duo Pack is very easy to use if you know how to use a racket of any type. Using this accessory enhances your experience with the game, and the possibility to lose weight is always a plus. With all of the peripherals for the Wii, this is one of my favorites — despite a few disappointments.
The Tennis Duo Pack is a tennis racket set that you can use with your Wii-mote and is compatible with most tennis sports games, such as Racquet Sports, Top Spin 1-3, Mario Power Tennis and Family Tennis. The accessory enhances your experience by making gameplay more realistic and fun, but you can also use the rackets outside for games like badminton or platform tennis.
This peripheral is easy to assemble or disassemble when you want to play inside or outside. The Wii-mote goes in the racket nicely. There is a plastic handle piece that slides in the slot where the Wii-mote goes, and the outside handle has a rubber grip. The rackets may seem very durable, but they are plastic and can break, so be careful while playing with the rackets and don’t hit anything hard with them if possible. However, if you take proper care of the rackets, they will last a long time. While inside, remember to have enough arm and body room to move around so you don’t break that old vase or anything else of value. Also, don’t forget to put the strap on your wrist before playing any Wii game so that the controller doesn’t fly out of your hand and break something valuable like your TV.
What I didn’t like about the racket is that the censor is blocked by the casing like many other Wii accessories. You can’t point and select when the Wii-mote is in the attachment. You have to poke the end of the Wii-mote up to do your point and select and then quickly pop it back into the handle to play. The reach for the sensor is not that bad, but there also are some complications with the sensor bar because of the casing. Also the ball that came with the Tennis Duo Pack isn’t very bouncy like a real tennis ball. I thought the idea was a great design but had some problems.
Overall, the Thrustmaster: Tennis Duo Pack works like it’s supposed. It helps further the experience for the player. It also helps to develop a better understanding of how to use a tennis racket. You don’t need it to play, but it enhances the fun. I had lots of fun watching my family get into something we all enjoy and get a workout at the same time. If you want a workout and a good investment to get your kids off the couch, then this is for you.
