You have relived the Star Wars re-imagined with Lego. You have battled the foes of Gotham with Lego Batarangs. You have leviosa’d Lego blocks to your hearts content, and you have sought the riches of ancient empires as the Lego Dr. Jones. However, you can’t imagine what is about to take place in Lego Universe, the newest Lego game to come to the market, developed by NetDevil. Why can’t you imagine it, you ask? That would be because the Maelstrom is threatening “pure imagination” and turning it into dark imagination. Thankfully, the Nexus Force has organized to oppose the Maelstrom, but they need your help to battle it and its army of Maelstrom Beings.

Lego Universe is a beautifully crafted game in the same style as the Lego games we are familiar with. Players will be happy to know the typical cute characteristics of the Lego world and the fun gestures will not just be present in Lego Universe, but there is the added benefit of character customization. Typical gameplay elements associated with normal MMOs are all present in Lego Universe. Players will be able to find new weapons from enemy drops, find items for customization in the world and level their characters by gaining experience points. One of the great features of the game is the ability to build creations with Lego bricks. In some areas of the game, players can quick build like previous Lego games. There is also an added building set in which players can build items like vehicles modularly. However, one of the coolest options is for the player to build in their own private area. Players can clear Maelstrom from their private building areas and then build to their hearts’ content as well as apply special properties to their creations. Special bricks are also unlocked while playing the game.

Overall, Lego Universe is the type of game that can appeal to all Lego enthusiasts. Those who love the animated Lego worlds of previous games will enjoy more of the same fun. Lego builders will enjoy making creations of their own design. But overall, people who love plain ol’ fun, are going to going to really enjoy Lego Universe. NetDevil has worked hard for the player’s enjoyment, and it is to be commended. Lego Universe is sure to be one of this years top MMOs. If you pre-ordered the game, early access has already started. Otherwise, you will have to wait until Oct 26 before you can play. Whatever you do, get this game, the Nexus Force needs your help to save “imagination”!
