Gamersinfo.net: How did the idea for Forsaken World evolve?

Jonathan: Forsaken World has been Perfect World’s longest game in development, and we wanted to raise the ante in what it means to be a free-to-play MMO. Specifically developed with the Western audience in mind, Forsaken World combines the best elements of Eastern and Western MMOs.

Gamersinfo.net: The concept art on the site is stunning — who was the artist who worked on that?

Jonathan: The concept art is from our talented creative team; however, it is nearly impossible to credit a single artist for all of the beautiful images you see on the Forsaken World website. This is more as a result of a team-oriented approach with closed internal communication and collaboration between various individuals and departments. Fw_6_

Gamersinfo.net: Speaking of people who worked on the game — tell me a bit about the team who brought Forsaken World into being.

Jonathan: Forsaken World is mainly being developed out of our Beijing studio, which consists of more than 3,500 employees who are dedicated to bringing Forsaken World from concept to production. We work closely with our developers and have a team dedicated to localizing, testing and preparing Forsaken World for the closed beta launch in North America.

Gamersinfo.net: What was the development process like?

Jonathan: Forsaken World has been in development for three years. Since Perfect World Entertainment was founded in North America in 2008, we have worked closely with Perfect World in China to incorporate a great deal of feedback from our players in the Western market. Fw_1_

Gamersinfo.net: Give us a short history of the races in the game. What will players be able to choose from? What are the options for character attributes and appearance?

Jonathan: Players will be able to choose between five distinct races that exist in Forsaken World, each with its unique back story from Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Kindred to the Stonemen. There are further customization options with classes, occupations and skill trees that will impact players’ attributes and appearance in game. Forsaken World also offers thousands of weapons and gear that will level as the character progresses and gain new physical appearances.

Gamersinfo.net: Tell us a little bit about the scope of the world and the world design.

Jonathan: Forsaken World begins with a magnificent world created by a group of gods, but the world falls into darkness when one of the gods chooses to leave. Now it is up to players to decide the fate of this dark, forsaken world. Forsaken World also gives players a completely new look that conveys an international feel that is not specific to one culture and showcases stunning graphics that is running on our updated proprietary Angelica 3D engine. Gamersinfo.net: What is the battle system like?

Jonathan: Players will be able to experience both open-world PvP starting at level 30 as well as closed PvP where fighters can fight formally in 3-on-3 or 6-on-6 competitions. There will also be guild warfare where players will be able to participate in guild versus guild warfare within their own Guild Command Centers and crush their enemies’ soul system.

Gamersinfo.net: What will draw players to the game and what will keep them playing once they’re immersed?

Jonathan: Forsaken World offers some of the most unique features in MMOs, including the God System, which will allow players to become a God on a limited time basis and possess special skills that will affect the entire server. Players can also look forward to a plethora of daily challenging quests and dynamic dungeons that will adjust depending on the level of players in the group. Fw_9_

Gamersinfo.net: What sets Forsaken World apart from other free-to-play MMORPGs?

Jonathan: Forsaken World is a high-quality, finely polished MMO that sets itself apart from other MMOs, not only with unique features, such as the Guild Command Centers and the God System. Guild Command Centers will unlock additional guild-specific content as well as let guilds challenge each other in all-out guild warfare. Another unique feature in Forsaken World is the unique server progression, where players will be able to see their world physically improve or become more twisted as they level up and unlock new content. As the first Perfect World Entertainment game to run on the updated proprietary Angelica 3D engine, which will let players enjoy visually stunning graphics regardless of their computer specs.

Gamersinfo.net: How is story utilized in the game?

Jonathan: We definitely wanted to weave the story into every aspect of the game, and this is evident in the gameplay and character customizations that depict both the look and feel of each player’s world in Forsaken World.

About the Author, Cat Wendt (A.K.A pragmacat)

Cat's passion for writing began at the tender age of 10 when she convinced her 5th grade teacher to let her use “sustained silent reading time” for scribbling frantically in a notebook. It took her awhile to work up the testicular fortitude to share her work with anyone, but now she freelances as both a writer and graphic designer. She cites her diverse background as her biggest influence: her artist mom is half-Chinese, half-Greek, and from Hawai'i; her film-loving, world-music DJ dad is from Montana; and she lived in both San Francisco, California and Great Falls, Montana while growing up. She loves at least a little bit about virtually everything and aims to be a Jane of all trades.

She is also allergic to felines.
