I started Transformers: War for Cybertron, with sort of dashed hopes. I have always been a big Transformers fan; even watching the TV shows when I could find the time. However, my hopes were lifted once I started getting into the game.

Once you begin Transformers: War for Cybertron, one thing caught my eye right off the bat; that was co-op. Not many games this day and age do campaign co-op anymore, and I was very pleased to see it incorporated into an awesome franchise. The co-op mode was fun; I love to be able to play through the game with a friend and just goof around. Activision really did fill that love with joy and lots of soft gooey stuff between my toes. 981364_20100701_640screen021

I got into the story, which I found to be really great, and it seems to follow a few of the Transformer novels that I have read — which only made it that much better. There is one thing I enjoyed the most, and that was the voice acting. They had a really great cast in this game; such as: Peter Cullen (hello ... original Optimus Prime!), and Fred Tatasciore. If you have been in the gaming world for a while, these names should ring a bell. If not, then look them up! They provide the awesomeness that is Optimus Prime and Megatron. It was also really great you can play BOTH sides of the story — Megatron for the Decepticons and Optimus Prime for the Autobots.

Graphically, Transformers: War for Cybertronis something to marvel at. The backdrops are beyond astonishing, which caught my small attention span more than a few times. Every object in the game also is something to be marveled at. I was pleasantly happy with every single object and world in Transformers: War for Cybertron. 981364_20100701_640screen006

Controls, though ... I was kind of swaying back and forth as to whether or not I liked the scheme. However, that is not the developers’ fault. I believe that was my own. I just could not get comfortable with the controls, again, which was my fault. I am more of a first-person shooter player, not a third-person shooter player. However, if I were a third-person type of player, the controls would be great. Other than that, I honestly was not very disappointed in anything the game had to offer.

I found multiplayer to be really fun, as in my favorite aspect is to play as the Autobots and hurt a bunch of Decepticons with my awesome melee skills. The weapon choices are really great, too. I found my favorite weapon to be the EMP Shotgun, only because I loved the feeling of the close quarters combat — getting right up to one of the Decepticons and blasting their sheet metal heads right off. 981364_20100907_640screen014

Overall, Transformers: War for Cybertron is a great game, both for solo and multiplayer gaming. I enjoyed playing it quite a bit, even though my usual strictly first-person style got in the way. There is nothing in the game to disappoint any fan of the Transformers genre or anyone just coming into the light for the first time. I am very happy I played Transformers: War for Cybertron, since Transformers has been one of my favorite franchises since I was a kid. It is really worth the buy, and it had a lot to offer.
