Gungrave: Overdose. When I first saw the name of this game I thought, "I am going to get an overdose of a grave or something like that?" Yeah, I know, silly, but people like me with no knowledge of the series Gungrave, when seeing this title, may think something along those lines.

But let's get into the actual thing - the game. The cut-scenes are totally 'off the hook' as some say, they are anime-like. This game really has an anime feeling to it and most any anime fan will enjoy it. I am not an anime fan and I enjoyed the cut-scenes. There are lots of cut-scenes, although they are beautiful to look at and to make you follow the story, they are too many of them and you'll find yourself watching more than actually playing.

The story is really interesting as a whole. You are "Grave", a man that was "resurrected" and brought back to fight an evil entity. Who is he? I won't reveal it because it might spoil the surprises/story.

Sometimes some of the voiceovers, where you only see the character's faces in a "comic" looking style, are kind of annoying. Not only because it sometimes takes them time to follow their own conversation, but because they sound stupid in some occasions.

Apart from that, the moves and the special attacks are kick-ass. You can charge up your gun with Grave and he will do a combo attack with the guns - pretty outstanding. Also, he has some special attacks which are pretty awesome, too. You continue to earn of these as progress through the game.

The graphics are so-so. Cut-scenes, as previously stated, are not created in CGI but in anime-mode, so those are other types of graphics. The in-game graphics are good but not impressive. One of the actual impressive things about the graphics of this game is how objects can be destroyed slowly and you get to see the process while they fall apart, which is pretty cool.

Combat mode we could is "fast-paced". Even though sometimes you move slowly, especially with the coffin that he is always carrying around as a secondary weapon (although when it hits…it hits hard.). There are different types of enemies to encounter - it will get more difficult as you continue. Some of them use shields so you can't shoot them; some of them are stronger; and such. The combat mode is good but feels repetitive over time. It is pretty much the same over and over again. Although getting new moves and going against new enemies will keep you playing, it's the interesting story that keeps you moving through the whole game.

. Although Grave is the main character you get to play as 2 other characters after you meet them and prove yourself to them. These are: Billy, who has a really powerful electric guitar; and Juji, who has a really powerful sword. These 2 characters definitely add variation to gameplay since they have other moves, etc.

The controls are pretty easy to get used to. They are simple as in most action games. This is a good thing, of course, but especially on this type of game because you usually need/want to do a lot of combos and you need a simple set up of controls in order to accomplish them.

The HUD (Heads-Up-Display) is pretty useful. It will probably take some time understand it, but when you do it really is useful. Most of all it does not interrupt the game action which is, of course, a great thing.

The camera angle will is frustrating at times. It is really difficult to get used to this. In my opinion this is the worst part of the game. The camera is so difficult to control, you will frequently find yourself lost not knowing where your character is or even where you need to go next. Camera angle is worst when you are in a battle, because occasionally it is difficult to determine exactly where your enemies are, or it is difficult to aim at them.

This game is definitely better than the first one and if you liked the first one then this one is a definite. Not everyone will like this type being a combat/anime game. But all in all the game is pretty cool; it is worth a rent if not a buy.
