Goal Battle offers a great virtual experience in playing the world’s most popular sport — soccer, generally known throughout the world as football. This fun little app allows you to play in an intense shootout against either an AI-controlled or a human-controlled goalie via the Internet.

The game is insanely fun as you have to precisely kick the ball as it is passed while at the same time paying strict attention to the angle at which you will kick it toward the opposing goal by making swiping moves on the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad screen.

The online shootout matches results are recorded, and with enough effort, it is possible to appear on the global leaderboards. Goal Battle also allows for player character customization with details such as many of the top club jerseys, cool looking cleats and power boosting items. Most of these add-ons are free, but some of the premium ones do cost a dollar or two.

The graphics in the game are 3-D, and the overall style compliments the intuitive interface. The sounds are straight from the soccer/football stadiums, so the fans will feel right at home. The gameplay is highly addictive and overall a blast. I really enjoyed playing in the multiplayer mode as it was easy to find online opponents.

Goal Battle is one of those rare gem apps that is a must have for any soccer/football fan.
