Bad concept, bad game play, bad idea. This game was just horrible. I rarely say that about any game, as I can often find things I like even in weaker games, but this one is just terrible.
The game is the sequel to the hardly noticeable Backyard Wrestling. This title features about twenty wrestlers that I have never heard of, and offers you exhibition as well as career modes to play in. It was tough for me to even get past the idea of the trailer trash experience that I was about to face.
The gameplay offered nothing really noteworthy, other than that it was very easy to pick up. The emphasis, of course, is to use as many environmental items during the match as possible. The yard is littered with items which, naturally, fit in with the trailer trash feel to the game. It was only missing the washing machine on the front porch. Game play was very simplistic and at times awkward. During the action sequences, there seemed to be a lack of flow. The wrestler would get knocked down even though the table you just threw at him missed. I found it to be laughable.
If that wasn’t enough, Eidos offers you some special characters to play. The best they were able to come up with were the two second rate rappers from Insane Clown Posse, a couple porn stars and hard rock singer Andrew W.K. who is most famous for a song from Madden 2003.
Maybe I am being way too tough on the game, since it gave me that icky feeling from the start. In all honesty though, it is poorly done and has little to offer. There are far better wrestling games out there, so don’t waste your time on this weak effort.
