This stealth action game, based on the hit television series, should be on target for fans of the series but a miss for other gamers. Alias is based, of course, on the espionage-themed television show starring the delightful Jennifer Garner. In this game, you play Sydney Bristow (Garner’s TV character), super hot super agent. You are given the mission to track down and retrieve a Rambaldi artifact (which ties in well with the actual show). During the game, you will interact with other characters from the show - good guys, bad guys, and those that fall somewhere in between.

The game itself is very easy. The game play is, for the most part, a cinch to pick up. During missions you will use a lot of stealth action for sneaking into protected areas, as well as for taking out unsuspecting enemies. I found this to be very basic. I was disappointed in the game’s AI, as guards would not see you when they really should. After a short time, I quit worrying about being sneaky and just went Rambo and started fighting from the get go. The action was decent. Bristow, of course, is very good at hand to hand combat and can take care of her opponents with ease. At times it seemed awkward, as the moves were not very specific, so you would randomly hit attack buttons and things would happen. I did like the ability to use a wide variety of high tech gadgets that gave you a better feel for the spy activity you were conducting. The gadgets were interesting, and most became useful in some way, so I would give that addition a good grade.

The graphics of the game were acceptable. Sydney doesn’t really look like Jennifer Garner, but that didn’t bother me. The environment was decent, and offered some interesting details, but not enough to really impress me. The sound was ok, but I found that at times the characters would just go on and on, which got annoying. I’m not certain if the character voices are from the show’s actors. The general sounds were acceptable, but again nothing to really write home about.

I found this game easy to play and I think most active gamers would get through this rather quickly. If you are a fan of the show, this might be a must play for you. If you are not a fan, there are far better games to spend your time and money on, so don’t waste it on this one. You can do better.
