I'm finally going to go see PLAY! A video game symphony. I don't know why it took them so long to make it over to the west coast, maybe because the producer, who also produced Dear Friends, came to California so many times they decided to see the rest of the world first. I've been to 3 Dear Friends concerts and they were absolutely amazing. I've also been to two Video Game Live shows and those were a treat as well. They're both very different venues, but I highly encourage people to attend both. VGL is more of a "show" where there are lights, more interaction with the audience. PLAY! if it's run they way Dear Friends was, then it's more of a sit-down, "proper" symphony. No one's in opera gear or anything, but it does demand a little bit of class. Or maybe it's just me. I've been to symphonies before and it's a common trend to dress up for these events because it gives respect to the musicians. But what do I know, when I used to play in piano recitals the last thing on my mind was what people were wearing.
I'll have to post an update after the concert.
On a totally random note, I read that Jack Thompson is suing Microsoft. This guy cracks me up.
